New Walt Disney World ambassadors announced Fri, 15 Oct 2010Two cast members were named as the next Walt Disney World ambassadors in a ceremony at the Magic Kingdom’s Cinderella Castle before the theme park opened on Friday morning.
Norman Vossschulte and Jennifer Mason will represent their fellow employees at official Disney World functions for two years.
The ambassador program was developed years ago by Walt Disney himself after the 10th anniversary of Disneyland. He had been overwhelmed by media requests and came up with the ambassador concept to develop another voice for the company. He selected the first Disneyland ambassador in 1964.
The new Disney World ambassadors will attend about 1,000 events, ranging from small, in-house anniversary celebrations to grand openings of attractions.
The finalists were :
Van Dobbins III of Disney’s Animal Kingdom Entertainment
Jennifer Mason of Magic Kingdom Custodial
Jason Rowitt of Disney’s Convention Services
Norman Vossschulte of Disney’s Hollywood Studios Entertainment
Stacia Wake of Walt Disney World Business Development
