Disney World breakfast with Goofy, Minnie, Donald relaxing, less expensive Tue, 17 Aug 2010

Breakfast at the Cape May Cafe at Disney’s Beach Club offers plenty of choices. (Kristin Ford/Orlando Sentinel)
Breakfast at Cape May Cafe with Goofy, Minnie Mouse and Donald Duck in their beach attire is one of my family’s favorite character meals. We visited again about a week ago, and it met our high expectations.
Cape May Cafe is located in Disney’s Beach Club (an Epcot resort), which means diners don’t have to pay park admission to greet their furry friends. In fact, Cape May Cafe is less expensive than many of the other character meals outside the parks. Adults pay $18.99 and children ages 3 to 9 pay $10.99 for the all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet. (Prices increase slightly for the holidays.)
Like many Disney fans, I look forward to the Mickey waffles, which were plentiful among the fresh fruit, eggs to order, breakfast pizza, cereals, bagels and more. My children are at the ages where they get a kick out of going to a buffet and choosing exactly what they’d like to eat. Of course, their eyes are always bigger than their stomachs, but that’s half the fun.
The atmosphere at Cape May Cafe is relaxed, and the characters come to each table for photos and autographs. Our reservation was at the end of the brunch period from 7:30 to 11 a.m. and the restaurant had cleared out significantly, so Goofy, Minnie and Donald visited us twice.
Although they don’t speak, the trio managed to carry on “conversations” with my kids about the hotel’s water slides, which we could see from our table. For the record: all three characters prefer the big water slide.
Even if you’re not staying at the Beach Club, it’s fun to walk around after your meal and see the fantastic sand-bottom pool and Boardwalk area. Fellow Daily Disney writer (and my husband) Steven Ford put together this short video with scenes from the resort and the character brunch.
Walt Disney World Tickets - By planning ahead, you won’t have to wait in line to make your purchase at the theme park ticket counter. Planning ahead to get a deal at Disney is a good idea. It is a well-known fact that The Walt Disney Company does things right. And that often means high costs. A vacation to Walt Disney World much more like a week on a cruise ship than it is a night out at the movies.
