Magic Kingdom’s ‘Storytime with Belle’ to close; ‘Tangled’ stars to take stage Oct. 15 Mon, 02 Aug 2010 'Storytime with Belle' in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World is scheduled to close Sept. 13. (Walt Disney World photo)
Walt Disney World has just announced a new character experience in the Magic Kingdom. Beginning Oct. 15, guests will be able to interact with stars from the upcoming Disney film Tangled.
Rapunzel and Flynn Ryder will “play and greet” visitors at the park’s Fairytale Garden adjacent to Cinderella Castle. The new character experience replaces Storytime with Belle, which will have its last show Sept. 12.
In the current performance, Belle retells the tale of Beauty and The Beast. To bring the story to life, Belle gets help from audience members who volunteer to portray Gaston, Beast, Maurice, Lumiere, Cogsworth, Chip and Mrs. Potts. Afterward, Belle greets guests and poses for photos.
Through the years, our family has made infrequent visits to see Storytime with Belle, but I think that was largely because my daughter’s favorite princess is a mermaid.
One thing we learned, though: There is limited seating that fills up quickly, so plan to arrive early. Performances are daily at 10:20 a.m., noon, 1 p.m., 2 p.m., 3:45 p.m. and 4:45 p.m.
